”On January 24th, the FIRST LEGO League regional qualifier was held in Debrecen, an event the J\u00e1sz-Stones team had been preparing for since late August. We put an incredible amount of effort into this competition, both in terms of ocean-related innovation and robot programming. The event took place at the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Debrecen. We arrived a bit early at the venue but didn\u2019t want to waste any time, so we tested how our robot performed on the local track. Adjustments were needed, and arriving early turned out to be a great advantage. After the opening ceremony, we set up a small booth where our competitors could create coral-themed badges while we talked to them about the importance of corals and their current state. Our first robot run wasn\u2019t among the best, but we knew we could improve, so we encouraged each other. After the first run, we headed to the jury room, where we presented our innovation and robot design. The jury was very impressed with our presentation, as reflected in the score sheets. After the presentation, we had two more robot runs, and we performed better and better. Once the robot runs were over, the awards ceremony began. Our team won first place in the LEGO Design, Team Spirit, Innovation, and Robot Run categories. As a result, we qualified for the national finals as first-place winners. This was an incredible joy for our team, as we worked so hard to achieve such results. We would like to thank the Cs\u00e1nyi Foundation for their support, Atlas Rise Kft., Kids 4 the Oceans for their tremendous help, and our mentors, volunteers, and developers for their contributions, without whom we wouldn\u2019t have gotten this far.”

“Every season, the best part is always the competition itself, though the journey to get there is the most educational. The competition day is the best not because of the results, which are hopefully a joyful conclusion, but because of the atmosphere, enthusiasm, and motivation. It\u2019s fantastic to cheer for each other and the team. When we stand at the table and start a run calmly and focused, there\u2019s always something special about that moment. “My favorite parts of the competition were the presentations and the robot runs. The event lasted almost the whole day, but I enjoyed it because there were so many exciting things to do. We built our team\u2019s logo out of LEGO and encountered modern technologies. One highlight was a special glove that detected finger movements and allowed us to control a robotic hand. I\u2019m thrilled that our team made it to the national finals!”

“The day started a bit rocky since we got the venue wrong at first, and the initial trial run wasn\u2019t perfect. But everyone helped each other, like screws holding machines together. Then came the big surprise: we won first place in the initial run! Encouraged by this, the jury also appreciated our efforts. Jani\u2019s prayers were answered, and all the hard work in programming, innovation, and the artistic efforts with corals and posters paid off. The many badges we handed out and the cheering bore fruit!”

“This day was simply fantastic because it was my first-ever LEGO competition! I was super excited because I didn\u2019t know what to expect, but right from the beginning, I felt it would be a unique experience. We got to try many exciting and varied activities, some of which amazed me. For example, there were dancing robots controlled by motion sensors and a cool reaction test where speed was key\u2014those were my favorites! We explored and tried everything, so I didn\u2019t have a moment to be bored. Watching our robot complete tasks was thrilling. In the first three rounds, we secured first place, bringing immense joy to the team. I feel like I learned so much from this day and am very grateful for the opportunity to participate. The experiences and teamwork will stay with me forever, and I can\u2019t wait for the next challenge!”
