Every year, the FIRST LEGO League global robotics competition is organized, bringing together 800,000 young participants from 110 countries. The FIRST LEGO League is the world\u2019s largest robotics community, where 9-to-16-year-olds can engage with robotics in a playful way, explore STEM sciences, and develop problem-solving, teamwork, and presentation skills.<\/p>\n

In 2025, the Hungarian national finals of the competition will be held in Zalaegerszeg at the Keresztury Dezs\u0151 City Cultural Center. The top 16 robotics programming teams in the country will compete, while visitors and participants can enjoy various LEGO activities and robotics workshops. The First LEGO League National Finals were opened by Zolt\u00e1n Balaicz, Mayor of Zalaegerszeg, followed by greetings from G\u00e1briel Gudra, Senior Executive Assistant at Bosch (the event\u2019s main sponsor), Dezs\u0151 Kov\u00e1cs, President of the Zala County Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and J\u00f3zsef Moln\u00e1r, representing the HelloWorld Education and Development Association.<\/p>\n

The competition required complex teamwork. Teams first had to set up their booths to provide visitors with as much information as possible about their team and innovative projects. Meanwhile, the LEGO robot trial runs began, allowing teams to fine-tune their robots to ensure they performed as programmed. Each team had a scheduled time to present their six-month-long work to the jury, with 5-minute presentations on their innovation (this year\u2019s theme: Oceans and Seas) and LEGO robot design, emphasizing the implementation of these concepts. During the LEGO competition rounds, each robot\u2019s maximum performance was tested three times. Additionally, the teams\u2019 communication and collaboration were assessed. The final ranking was determined based on the overall results.<\/p>\n

The J\u00e1sz-Stones team’s overall achievement: 3rd place!<\/p>\n

At the Zalaegerszeg Finals of the FIRST LEGO League, four teams earned national qualifications, securing their spots at international competitions: Houston, World Festival: T\u00f6viscsapat-X (T\u00f6viscsapat Robotics Club<\/a>), Greece: S-TEAM (Miskolci Egyetem (University of Miskolc)<\/a>, F\u00f6ldes Ferenc Gimn\u00e1zium), South Africa:<\/strong> J\u00e1sz-Stones (Cs\u00e1nyi Alap\u00edtv\u00e1ny a Gyermekek\u00e9rt<\/a> J\u00e1szber\u00e9ny), Australia: Fabton (Fabton<\/a> Cs\u00edkszereda)<\/p>\n

Thanks to the support of Bosch Hungary<\/a> three teams received scholarships to implement their innovative projects: T\u00f6viscsapat-X (T\u00f6viscsapat Robotics Club<\/a>) 500.000 HUF, Fabton (Fabton<\/a> Cs\u00edkszereda) 300.000 HUF, J\u00e1sz-Stones (Cs\u00e1nyi Alap\u00edtv\u00e1ny a Gyermekek\u00e9rt<\/a> J\u00e1szber\u00e9ny) 250.000 HUF.<\/p>\n

Additional Achievements of J\u00e1sz-Stones<\/h3>\n

Best Innovation Award \u2013 3rd Place
The team developed an interactive board game called Through the Diving Mask into the Blue Realm<\/em>, which educates players about ocean life while raising awareness about coral reef conservation. The students worked incredibly hard, learning a lot in the process, and forming strong team bonds. The older students actively involved younger teammates in more tasks. Their collaboration also earned them:<\/p>\n

Best Team Spirit \u2013 3rd Place<\/p>\n

Best LEGO Robot Design \u2013 3rd Place
This achievement highlights the students\u2019 significant progress in robot design, construction, and programming. This season, they worked with Python programming to enhance their robotics skills further.<\/p>\n
