Between 14\u201315 November 2025, the Kiskuns\u00e1g National Park held its event series titled \u201cXIV. Crane Festival at Lake Feh\u00e9r \u2013 the celebration of bird migration in the Southern Great Plain.\u201d On Friday, after school, our photography team from Szeged visited the Roller Education Centre near S\u00e1ndorfalva for the evening crane return, hoping to capture the cranes as they flew to their night roosts. Unfortunately, the foggy weather made our task difficult that evening; although we could not photograph any cranes, our team still found plenty of macro subjects in the descending fog.<\/p>\n The next morning, at sunrise, we returned to the same location together with secondary school students and our fellow photographers from Szentes, who joined the expanded photography run. The weather was much kinder to us that day \u2014 the fog lifted, allowing everyone to find ample subjects within the three announced themes: \u201cAnimal Category,\u201d \u201cMacro Category,\u201d and \u201cWater \u2014 the Source of Life.\u201d<\/p>\n We continued our photography near the fishponds along the Algy\u0151 access road of the Feh\u00e9rt\u00f3 Fishery, where we successfully captured herons, egrets, and gulls as well. After our long hike, we travelled to the caf\u00e9 of the Pallavicini Castle in S\u00e1ndorfalva, where we began editing our raw images until the submission deadline.<\/p>\n Other members of the Szeged Group 1 represented our Foundation that day under the guidance of mentor Istv\u00e1n Vid\u00e1kovics. While the photography team was competing in the field, this group explored the event\u2019s programmes. Upon arrival, they took part in a horse-drawn carriage tour between the castle and the bird-ringing station, then observed the bird-ringing process and gained insight into the work of rescue dog teams.<\/p>\n After submitting our contest photos, the two groups had lunch together, and then headed back to the Roller Education Centre to watch the evening crane return and attend the awards ceremony of the Krist\u00f3f Di\u00f3s Field Photography Competition<\/em>.<\/p>\n Following the spectacular evening crane return, we awaited the final results of the photography run with great excitement, as this event has always been an important measure for us in evaluating our nature photographs.<\/p>\n To our great surprise, our team \u2014 now strengthened by our new photography volunteer, Kata Kar\u00e1cson<\/strong> \u2014 received six awards<\/strong> at this year\u2019s event:<\/p>\n 1st place \u2014 Macro Category:<\/strong> 2nd place \u2014 Macro Category:<\/strong> 1st place \u2014 Water Category:<\/strong> 2nd place \u2014 Water Category:<\/strong> 3rd place \u2014 Water Category:<\/strong> Bal\u00e1zs M\u00f3ric Gila<\/em><\/p>\n Congratulations on their achievements! \n Mikics P\u00e9ter<\/em>
Participating in this event is part of the traditions of the Szeged Community House, and this year it was expanded with the Krist\u00f3f Di\u00f3s Field Photography Competition<\/em>, last held two years ago \u2014 now featuring the active involvement of our nature photographers from Szeged and Szentes.<\/p>\nMACRO Category<\/strong><\/h3>\n
