On December 4th, the D\u00e9ryn\u00e9 6 Gallery, operating within the J\u00e1szs\u00e1g Community House of the Cs\u00e1nyi Foundation, welcomed visitors with a new exhibition filled with Christmas spirit. This time, the focus was not on fine art, but on craftsmanship. The creators of the J\u00e1szs\u00e1g Folk Art Workshop Association presented their unique works, each the result of personal workshop activity rooted in tradition.<\/p>\n
The opening was launched by the frenetic drum and kaval (flute) performance of the young musician-dancers from the Vigan\u00f3 Primary Art School in J\u00e1szber\u00e9ny, which set the perfect tone for the event. Following this, in his welcome speech, Dr. Mikl\u00f3s Radosz\u00e1v, the Operational Director of the Cs\u00e1nyi Foundation, highlighted that the preservation and transmission of traditions is a fundamental value for the organization. He expressed his joy that artisan culture was given a special space in the gallery this time.<\/p>\n
At the opening, Lilla Lakatos elevated the atmosphere with a medley of folk songs, followed by Be\u00e1ta G\u00e1l-Dobos, President of the J\u00e1szs\u00e1g Folk Art Workshop Association, who spoke about the nine years of work by this small but extremely dedicated community. As she noted, the exhibition simultaneously evokes the past and displays modern, reinterpreted directions in folk art. The workshop’s goal is to imbue the heritage of the J\u00e1szs\u00e1g region with fresh meaning, thereby presenting the region’s treasury of motifs to a wider audience.<\/p>\n
Finally, closing the program, the young dancers of the J\u00e1szt\u00e1nc Foundation gifted the audience with dances from the J\u00e1szs\u00e1g region.<\/p>\n
Regarding J\u00e1szs\u00e1g motifs, the former embroidery women\u2014led by M\u00e1ria Feh\u00e9r\u2014started a process years ago in which the decorations of the sz\u0171r<\/i> (traditional felt coats) of the J\u00e1szs\u00e1g were separated from the costumes and began appearing on various everyday and decorative objects. The creators have now continued this tradition: using digital design methods, they have reimagined the motifs and given them a modern guise. Young people and enthusiastic artisans participated in the joint creative work, so the patterns now appear not only on textiles and garments but also on pottery, enamel, gingerbread, cookies, and wrought iron works. The work of costume makers is particularly defining; J\u00f3zsef Gor\u00e1cz\u2019s photos provide a glimpse of these at the exhibition.<\/p>\n
In the inner rooms of the gallery, visitors can view works showcasing a wide variety of techniques: wicker weaving, felting, machine embroidery, paper weaving, wrought iron objects, pottery, enamel jewelry, accessories made of cord, and unique headdresses make up the diverse selection.<\/p>\n
