Thursday afternoon our group and Elisa took a visit in the Eagle Centre near J\u00e1szber\u00e9ny, which is under the supremacy of Hortob\u00e1gyi National Park.<\/p>\n

It is located in a supervised area of protected birds in J\u00e1szs\u00e1g, where the country’s largest amount of nesting imperial eagles take place. Our leader told us a lot of interesting facts about these birds and this place as well. They don’t only do research and observation, but injured birds are taken care of here. They heal them and release them back in the nature. Also, there are birds that are permanent members of the centre, because they couldn’t heal up completely form their injuries. In the meantime we tried to translate as much as we could to Elisa from what we heard. We had the opportunity to pet some birds, the most interesting ones were the barn owl, and the screech owl, which is called ‘bird of death’ by the folks here. A little story showed us wh it is called that. After the windy weather it was good to get inside the lecture room, where we could see the phylum hierarchy of birds and the preys of the imperial eagle painted on the walls.
