Dorottya Urbán and Nóra Szabó are presently studying at the University of Kaposvár. They talked about what it is like to be Hungarian in a foreign territory like Vojvodina. We have been taught about our nationality at school especially on the occasion of our national holidays. At first, I thought the topic was way too serious, but soon all my doubts disappeared. Dorottya and Mónika shared their personal experiences with us through a sincere conversation. I heard a lot of interesting information about their school system, the official administration and the various leisure opportunities of young people. The presentation ended with a playful debate, where we had a friendly argument about staying or leaving. We will soon meet our volunteers again in the form of other programmes.” Áron Karácsony, Group 2 of Kaposvár

„We were pleased and full of excitement preceding our presentation for Group 2 at the Csányi Foundation’s Community House in Kaposvár. Consulting their mentor we agreed that our first encounter should be a sort of introduction: What does our mixed Serbian-Hungarian nationality mean to us? Though we thought the topic was rather serious, we tried to bring it closer to this age group by using a colorful power point presentation. The children – to our surprise – proved to be genuinely interested and well-disciplined throughout our presentation. We were delighted that the students were actively involved in both the presentation and the conversation. Hence we weren’t surprised that boys and girls were equally enthusiastic in our closure activity. They argued perfectly reasonably, even though the topic was not easy: what decision the Hungarians of Vojvodina should make – to leave or stay, as there is a tendency among young people to emigrate from the territory. We are grateful to the Csányi Foundation, we consider it a great initiative and we honestly think that it would be a wonderful thing to have such a foundation in other areas of the world. Being master degree students, we are looking forward to helping each other in other areas.” Nóra Szabó és Dorottya Urbán, volunteers

„The Drama lesson on Wednesday was different this time as two volunteers visited us from Vojvodina.
