The J\u00e1sz stories are always full of surprises, as the origins of many sagas are still unclear, so archaeologists and museologists often add their own colourful little stories. This was the case on this Friday afternoon, when we visited the Franciscan Church of J\u00e1szber\u00e9ny, where renovations are currently underway, with the J\u00e1szs\u00e1g 4 group, led by monument preservationist B\u00e9la Sisa. The 550-year-old building’s fa\u00e7ade is currently undergoing renovation work, which will restore a Gothic window and a panelled door to their original state. We also learned that the basalt stones were brought to the church from Gy\u00f6ngy\u00f6ssolymos. Interestingly, two churches are being renovated in J\u00e1szber\u00e9ny this year, with major works being carried out in the Roman Catholic Church of Our Lady of the Assumption and excavations are also underway there. “Today my group mates and I visited a church in J\u00e1szber\u00e9ny. As soon as we entered the building we could see beautiful doors, windows, paintings and different sculptures. Then we walked into the interior where our guide told us many interesting things and old stories. We learned many new things that we don’t hear every day, for example, we had a “peek” into the life of the J\u00e1sz and the Kuns. Today was a day full of information and interesting facts.
