Portfolio Evaluation in Szeged
The portfolio evaluation of the Szeged group 3 took place in Szeged on May 7, 2025.
The members of the evaluation committee were: Erika Csányi, Chairperson of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees; Gabriella Csányi, Gábor Marosi, and Edward Papp, trustees; Dr. Miklós Radoszáv, Chief Operating Officer; and Piroska André Szabóné, professional advisor.
The weeks leading up to the event were filled with exciting preparations. On Wednesday, the young people demonstrated that all the time and energy invested had not been in vain. We were fortunate to witness colorful presentation showcases that genuinely reflected their individual personalities. The event, sprinkled with emotional and occasionally moving moments, concluded with everyone happily listening to the unanimous opinion of the committee: they may continue their journey as members of the foundation.
The milestone day was framed by two theatrical performances.
To start the day, the group performed Félőlény by Pál Békés, directed by Milán Vajda. The day ended at the Szeged National Theatre, where we all watched the musical The Jungle Book by Pál Békés.

“We’ve just had an eventful Wednesday, which was preceded by lots of preparations and hard work. We arrived at the Community House just before 9 a.m. We had a quick meeting about the day’s schedule, and then began getting ready. Over the past six months, we put together a play, which we performed today. We adapted Pál Békés’ Félőlény for the stage, and it was a huge success. The audience celebrated us with loud applause and we received lots of praise and kind words after the performance. But our day was far from over — the real challenge was only just beginning. One by one, we stood before the trustees and presented our journeys so far. Everyone did it differently, in their own way, emphasizing different aspects of their six years with the Foundation — and these presentations were received with great joy. We broke for a group lunch, which gave us the chance to sit and talk with the trustees, getting to know them better. After that, the presentations continued, and in the end, they thanked us for our work, acknowledged our efforts, and told us they were happy to continue supporting us on our Journeys. To end our day, we went to the theatre in the evening to see a modern adaptation of The Jungle Book. Our group really enjoyed it. It was an exciting and slightly humorous performance, but also moving, with serious scenes. After so many weeks of preparation, ending the portfolio defense like this was refreshing.”

“Who is the hero?” — I asked, and then answered, repeating it many times: YOU!
As a fellow Csányi member from Nagybajom, it was truly uplifting to be such an integral part of the portfolio defense. We created something together, as a group. Always something new. It was incredibly exciting to witness the collaboration, attentiveness, discipline, and desire to create that characterized my young friends over three workshop weekends. Day and night, we painted set pieces together, brainstormed ideas, learned lines, directed scenes, and then proudly received the applause. I thank the Szeged Group 3 for their work, for welcoming me, and I hope they know — this journey doesn’t end here! It’s a milestone in their life within the Foundation, but the community they’ve built must be cherished and nurtured.”
