I Attended the National Championships

After a long and persistent foundation period, I approached the indoor season starting in January with high hopes. My first competition was the Albert Cup held on January 17, where I entered the 60-meter sprint; I ran a 8,11 in the “B” final, which not only secured me second place but also broke my personal best. On January 24, at the Nyíregyháza Open, I tried to bring out the most from myself—finishing 9th in the 200-meter sprint with a time of 26,58. I participated in several other competitions before my National Championship, but I was unable to improve upon my personal best.

Thanks to the support of the Csányi Foundation, I was able to participate in a four-day training camp this February, which was a huge help in my preparation. The camp took place during the week of the National Championship, so we only did lighter, speed-sharpening work there. Then, on February 21 and 22, I participated in the U20 and U18 Indoor Athletics Hungarian Championships held in Nyíregyháza, where I experienced two surprises. One was a new event, the high jump, in which I finished 3rd in the national championship. This result provides extra points for my university admission.

The other surprise was caused by the 200-meter sprint, where I started at a disadvantage due to an organizer’s error, and as a result of a protest, I had to re-run the 200 meters within ten minutes. My first run was 26,41, which was only 3 tenths of a second away from my personal best. I saw it as impossible to run anywhere near my personal best for the second time. Despite being tired, I stood at the starting line again and ran 26,58. Although it wasn’t a personal best, I was happy that I could run a nearly identical time.

I am closing my indoor season relatively positively, but I know that this is not yet my peak form. I am striving to get the most out of myself so that I can show what I am truly capable of outdoors—and I am doing everything I can to achieve this.

I thank the Foundation for all their support in helping my sport career.
