MTA 200 project

MTA 200 project

“In the recent months, the focus of our project has been the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, but today we turned our attention to those individuals who are members of the Academy and have some connection to the Jászság region. For this we turned to the 2025 edition of the Jászság Academicians Yearbook, from which our group members each selected a person to study in greater depth. We presented our reports on the academicians to one another and to our two guests. We invited Dr. László Pethő, a retired university professor, who played a major role in the creation of the Jászság Academicians Yearbook. He recounted the origins of the yearbook, his career, and provided us with useful advice. Our other guest, Dávid Víg, who is supported by the foundation, prepared a video for us that was filmed to mark the 200th anniversary of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (MTA). It featured people who had gathered information about a specific academician and shared their stories. The main goal of our project is to learn about the history of Jászság and the prominent figures associated with it, such as poets, writers, engineers, actors, and economists. For me, this project is extremely exciting and interesting, as I get to learn about people for whom Jászság played an important and significant role in their lives. Moving forward, we would like to expand our knowledge of the academics we are researching and then preserve their memory through commemoration.”
