Multilingual Earth Day
The Pécs Group 2 celebrated Earth Day in a unique and inspiring way: during the weekend project days, environmental awareness took center stage not only in terms of content but also linguistically. One of the most interesting elements of the program was that students explored the topics in German and English, allowing issues of sustainability to be interpreted in a foreign-language context as well.
Students worked at their own pace, delving into current environmental issues in the language of their choice. Later, during joint sessions held in Hungarian, they summarized, expanded on, and discussed what they had learned. This method not only developed their language skills but also supported complex thinking and the integration of different perspectives.
The sessions concluded with a mentoring class, where students had the opportunity for personal reflection and to process their shared experiences. At the end of Saturday, a parents’ meeting was also held, during which participants reviewed the events of the second semester and gave special attention to the upcoming programs of the Guidance Festival.
By the end of the weekend, it became clear that consciously structured, experience-based learning is not only effective but also has strong community-building power. The Pécs group truly completed meaningful and valuable days—paying fitting tribute to Earth Day.
