The First Parent Meeting of the New “Csányisok” in Szentes

On June 3, we held a parent meeting at the Szentes Community House for the children and parents who joined us during the March selection process. The attending parents gladly shared their thoughts with us about how eagerly they awaited the notification letter and how they told their children the exciting news that they had been accepted into the Életút Program. The older students of the Szentes Group 2 were also excited to welcome the newly selected “little ones” and their parents. Our volunteer, Mrs. Istvánné Csige (Erzsike néni), greeted everyone at the door and offered refreshments and snacks. Erzsike néni has played an important role in the life of our previous group as well – she welcomes the children to each session and takes care of them.

First, we watched the short film made during the selection process, which brought smiles to everyone’s faces. Afterward, we shared a lot of useful information with the parents and children regarding the upcoming Freshman Camp, the period ahead, and the necessary tasks. While the parents were busy with the administrative work, the children had fun outside with the junior mentors: they decorated the yard with chalk drawings, played ball, foosball, and chatted.

Camp declarations and study agreements were filled out and signed, already containing the commitments for the next school year. Our next meeting will be a “getting-to-know-each-other” day with the families, where learning pairs will be formed between the younger and older students so they can support each other’s development as best as they can.

“Yesterday, our little group’s very first parent meeting took place, where we, the older ones, helped as junior mentors. But this day wasn’t about us — it was about the youngest ones, who met each other for the first time as groupmates. We had the chance to spend time together as official members of the same group. While the parents were inside signing papers, we spent an exciting time outside playing games. When the parents were done, the final part of our day came — taking a group photo, which turned out really well.”
