Swimming Camp in Szeged
This week, the supported members of Group 1 are taking part in our traditional swimming camp.
The morning professional programs are led by our volunteer instructor, Szabolcs Tóth, and Ramóna Petrovszki, junior mentor from Szeged Group 2. In the afternoons, we brighten the days with out-of-pool programs, including visits to the Zoo, riverboat rides, cinema trips to Cinema City, and interactive workshops on healthy living.
Our first day:
“Today was my first day at the swimming camp in Szeged. At first, I was a bit nervous because I can’t swim, but the care and attention from the adults there completely reassured me. I practiced a lot and I feel like I’ve made progress. I feel much safer now, both thanks to the group and to the instructors. Rami and Uncle István helped me a lot, for which I’m very grateful. I had a great time and I can’t wait for tomorrow!”
Hanna Lea Kece, Szeged Group 1
And then we continued:
“We practiced with and without kickboards. In the shallow water, we worked on the basics of freestyle and proper breathing techniques, while in the deep water, we improved our breaststroke and backstroke. We both already know how to swim, but it’s never a bad idea to practice. The coach is kind, and the others are very helpful too. Today was great and we’re already looking forward to gaining new experiences tomorrow.”

Midweek:
“We practiced many types of strokes in swimming – backstroke, breaststroke, freestyle, and kickboard exercises. After lunch, we went to the cinema to see Fantastic Four. The next day, we practiced a lot again and it was worth it. Everyone improved a lot.”

Our Friday:
“Today we swam long distances and got really tired. Afterwards, at the Community House, we watched Rami’s presentation on healthy living. Based on what we learned, we prepared some delicious, healthy dishes together, which we then enjoyed. We’re really looking forward to Saturday’s water sliding after swimming!”
Hunor Gyuraskó and Zente Tácsik, Group 1
“On July 26, the swimming camp in Szeged for Group 1 came to an end. Everyone actively participated in both the morning and afternoon programs. On Tuesday, we went to the Zoo, where we saw all the animals and treated ourselves to some ice cream. Wednesday’s program was a riverboat trip – during the journey, we talked and laughed a lot. On Thursday, we had a cinema outing to watch Fantastic Four, which, despite initial doubts, everyone enjoyed. On Friday, I gave a PowerPoint presentation on healthy living to the group, after which we prepared some tasty snacks together. On Saturday, we closed the camp with a fun water sliding session, followed by ice cream. By the end of the week, everyone could say they were thoroughly tired and had swum in the deep water.”
