Summer kick-off party
Members of the K1 and K3 groups bid farewell to the school year and welcomed the upcoming vacation with a summer kickoff program on Tuesday afternoon, June 17, at the Community Center in Kaposvár.
The event’s highlight was a friendly barbecue, where the children not only enjoyed delicious food but were also given the opportunity to chat informally with each other, their little mentors, and their mentors. The shared cooking became a real team effort – some prepared the salad, while others assisted by the grill, where many sausages were cooked for hot dogs.
While lunch was being prepared, the group members formed small, mixed teams to share memorable moments from the past school year, discuss the challenges, successes, and obstacles in learning, and, of course, talk about their summer plans. The shared laughter, playful conversations, and encouraging words put everyone in a good mood.
During the afternoon, a creative idea also took root: the children came up with a plan for a new production, which they would like to present at the next Life Path Festival. While the details are still secret, one thing is certain – there was no shortage of enthusiasm or ideas.
To close the pleasant afternoon, a parent-teacher meeting was held, during which the mentors, together with the attending family members, discussed the most important information for the summer period, the available opportunities, as well as plans and goals for the next school year, and evaluated the past year. Meanwhile, the children actively participated in tidying up the dining area, helping to clean up and wipe down the tables.
This afternoon was not only a fun program but also another opportunity for members of the community to strengthen their relationships with one another. The shared experiences, the informal togetherness, and the supportive atmosphere all contributed to ensuring that both children and adults could head into the summer break rejuvenated and enriched with positive memories.
