About Archaeology in Kaposvár

On March 28, 2026, thanks to our mentor, archaeologist Máté Varga, the members of Kaposvár Group 3 had the opportunity to take part in an extremely interesting experience.
Through Máté’s detailed presentation, we gained insight into the exciting world of archaeology. I had already gathered a wealth of information on this subject, yet it was a special experience for me to see up close, with the help of an experienced archaeologist, all the things I had previously only known from science TV shows. We got to know the tools of the trade, its goals, and a glimpse of its achievements to date. In short: we went from the excavator to a five-million-forint Roman gold coin.

Although I’m a “dinosaur fanatic”—meaning paleontology is much closer to my heart—I still got to take part in a wonderful, useful, and interesting program this morning.
Thank you very much, Uncle Máté!

Miklós Nagy, Kaposvár Group 3

After Saturday’s presentation and project session, we traveled to Budapest with seven members of Groups 1 and 3 from Kaposvár to watch the Hungarian national soccer team’s friendly warm-up match against Slovenia. Although the weather wasn’t exactly ideal, fortunately, this wasn’t (all that) noticeable at the Ferenc Puskás Stadium. Five of the seven children had never been to Puskás or a stadium of similar size before, so it was a tremendous experience for them to see the stadium and be part of such a big soccer event. Fortunately, by the second half of the match, the teams had picked up the pace, so we got to see numerous scoring opportunities and some great plays, and most importantly for us, the Hungarian national team managed to score a goal, winning 1-0!
