Personality and IT skill development weekend in Pécs

Personality and IT skill development weekend in Pécs

The weekend developmental sessions (February 13–14) offered a meaningful and experience-rich program for the Pécs 1 and Pécs 3 groups. During the two days, a special emphasis was placed on personality development, which helped participants strengthen their cooperation skills, communication, and self-confidence through interactive exercises, teamwork, and self-awareness tasks. In addition, the development of IT knowledge played a central role: students deepened their digital competencies, logical thinking, and problem-solving abilities through practical tasks. The sessions took place in a good atmosphere and contributed to the participants making progress not only in their professional but also in their personal development.

“In the Pécs Community House this weekend, the P1 and P3 groups participated in IT classes. With the P3 group, this time we focused on the more difficult parts of Python programming. The goal was for them to be able to apply what they had previously learned in more complex, multi-step tasks. The students independently sought solutions, combined already known programming elements, and became increasingly proficient in debugging. The work took place in a good atmosphere, many creative solutions were born, and it was clearly visible that they are using Python’s tools with increasing confidence. With the P1 group, we emphasized the development of presentation skills. They worked on more independent, difficult tasks: they had to organize their own content, create well-thought-out slides, and pay attention to ensuring the visual appearance was clear and aesthetic. Everyone progressed nicely with their tasks, and progress in independent planning and implementation was well-perceivable. The work of both groups also connected to the current annual project of the Community House, which focuses on environmental awareness and sustainability, so these topics appeared naturally during the tasks.”

“During yesterday morning’s drama classes with the P3 group, we worked on the themes of group dynamics and trust. During the ‘Battle of Two Teams’ exercise, participants could directly experience the emotional side of competition, belonging, and power situations. It was interesting to observe what strategies appeared alongside physical strength: communication, persuasion, humor, or even attempts at cooperation with the opponent. In the second block, we performed trust exercises. The tasks of blind leading and the ‘trust fall’ were built on attention, taking responsibility for each other’s physical safety, and the supportive power of the group. During the class, participants not only cooperated in game situations but could also observe their own reactions and feelings. The experiences confirmed that physical and group drama games effectively support the development of cooperation skills. With the P1 group, the goal was to raise awareness of the quality of feedback and communication. In the aggressive–submissive–assertive situational exercises, students primarily examined the tools of non-verbal communication. During the portrayal of various role-play and conflict situations, it became clear that posture, voice usage, and spatial management significantly influence the development of interactions. The ‘Mixed Messages’ exercise directed attention to the responsibility of the speaker and the listener. Participants could experience firsthand how attention, the method of disagreement, and the harmony or contradiction of non-verbal signals help or hinder communication.”
