Nature Study and Language Camp in Kőszeg

Nature Study and Language Camp in Kőszeg

This morning, the children from Mohács and Kaposvár set off toward Kőszeg for their first shared summer camp of the season.

After arriving, they met the professionals who will support them throughout the week and jointly reviewed the weekly program. In the coming days, the students will explore various topics in natural sciences in an engaging and hands-on manner.

During the week, there will also be English and German lessons, and at the end of the camp, the participants will experience their very first exam situation.

Due to the rain, many programs had to be rearranged during the week, but this didn’t dampen the campers’ spirits at all. The children remained enthusiastic and curious, seizing every opportunity to learn and enjoy new experiences.

They visited the bird observatory in Tömörd, where they saw birds up close while discovering the rich plant life of the area. Although the bird ringing activity was interrupted by rain toward the end of the program, the sudden shower brought more laughter than frustration—likely becoming one of those memories they’ll laugh about for a long time. They also attended a presentation where they learned about river water sampling and various measurements. Later, in a lesson, they studied a model of the chromosome chain and even managed to extract banana DNA.

They also visited the castle of Kőszeg, where they explored the exhibited objects and learned about the castle’s history through a worksheet-based activity.

Meanwhile, the English and German lessons were in full swing: the students even took part in their first oral foreign language exams, which they approached with excitement and courage. They visited the Hétforrás (Seven Springs), where they heard fascinating stories about the site’s past, and the next day, they hiked up to Írottkő, which offered a stunning panoramic view.

By the end of the camp, they had formed a true community, enriched with countless experiences, new knowledge, and friendships. Although saying goodbye to each other and to Kőszeg was bittersweet, they will meet again soon—ready to continue their shared adventure at the next camp in Balatonszemes.
