Ulm, what a lovely city

Ulm, what a lovely city

We set off in the morning (20th July) from Pécs in order to collect our friend from the Community House in Kaposvár.

The weather was extreme, and we were sweating badly, however every drop was worth because the team was together again and we were heading to Augsburg. We were really looking forward to seeing each other. The landing was not as pleasant as you can wish; on one hand the whole plane was shaking on the other hand we were passing very thick rain clouds. Ms Judit and Ms. Edina were very confident – this way we found our luggages and the driver who took us from Munich to Augsburg, where our host families have already been waiting for us. The weather forecast predicts cold and rainy days – it will not make us blue, we are still cheering for the week to come.

Monday welcomed us with pouring rain. Everybody arrived on time to school and we were asked to write a test which helped our teachers to find the suitable groups regarding our level. Then studying began. We also had some homework which we did in the afternoon. We solved a quiz and as a reward we became some sweets. It is so disappointing because it is so cold and rainy, however we try to be positiv and hope that tomorrow the sun will shine.

On Tuesday it did not matter whether we had a raincoat or an umbrella we still got soaking wet. At school we continued our duties and tried to follow the instructions of our teachers, who gave us as well a great heap of home work. In the afternoon satisfied and tired we headed to the Art Cafe situated in Zwerggasse nr 6. It was a very cosy peaceful place and the owner was more than kindhearted. She explained us everything and encouraged us all the time. We hardly could believe that the time was flying so quickly. It was already 5.30 pm, when we finished painting and set off. Our host families were witing for us. We truly hope that the good weather will return tmorrow.

On Monday after writing the placement test we had to join different groups according to our level. It wasn’t’ much fun, because the members of the group have already been here for months and they already been a team, we were new comers – they weren’t friendly at all towards us and the teacher wasn’t supportive either. On Wednesday things have changed and we have our own teacher. It is more than great. He is fun to learn with. Because this is the 3rd year of returning to Augsburg, we all feel very confident. It does not cause any problem to find our way in the town or use the public transport. Ferenc Gábor

Several interesting topics were covered during the lessons. We had to use the German language and that was FUN. It was more than great talking to people living in Augsburg. It encouraged us and improved our self-confidence. Thank you for it. Csilla Karácsony

It was great to experience that we are important for the ADK language school. The school management was very flexible and changed many things according to our needs and language knowledge. The lessons are FUN now and though we have to learn very hard and we have to be very active during the lessons, time is flying soooo quickly. We are happy because our new teacher is supportive and motivating. Kinga Kiss

This language course in ADK Augsburg was the best way of learning the German language in my life. I am very active and use the German language as often as I can. Our team is brilliant. I am so sorry that time is flying so quickly and in few days we have to go home. Judit Fekete

On the first day we had lots of homework but we sat down together and solved everything. Fortunately we have lovely teachers. The best day was Wednesday as during the German lesson we went to the town and we made several interviews with pedestrians. Bendegúz Izsák

This day was more than fun. I like my new teacher he is young and he understands us well. He makes us using the German language. We solve lots of interesting tasks. As homework we often have to write essays, and we have to learn the vocabulary. It is great being here! Nikolett Roubál

On Monday after writing the placement tests we joined different kind of groups, who were much elder than we were. Apart from this our teachers gave us lots of homework. I was pleased because our host family helped us to do our homework and they explained everything to us, that we did not understand. From Wednesday on we were in a new group. Our new teacher is energetic and young. During the lessons we solve many exercises. We also went to the town to make an interview with the pedestrians. That was more than fun. I truly hope that the cay to come were just as good as these days were. Gábor Szabó

This is my second time in Augsburg. It is great to be here. Day by day I am learning a lot and I get to know the town and the people. To tell the truth once we nearly got lost, but at the end we find our way back to our host family. The weather in the first few days was awful, but we truly hoped that it could be better and it got indeed. Since yesterday the sun is shining – summer returned. We had plenty of programmes for the afternoon however I loved the art café the best. We all were very creative and the mugs we painted were more than unique. I hardly can wait for Friday as we receive them in order to take them home. Alexandra Fitos.

During this short week we take up an intensive German language course and apart from that we enjoy several afternoon programmes organised by our teachers. The lessons are fun. Time flies so quickly. Today was the best day because we had a new teacher called Gerald. We played games and while we were playing we learnt a lot and were using the German language intensively. Renáta Tischlér

After having a new teacher we enjoyed language lessons more than before: several interesting topics were covered and our teacher had a good sense of humour. We all were motivated and with the help of the games we could practise the German language even better. Bianka Járay

At the beginning the intensive language course seemed to be more than difficult, because we had to join a group who have already enrolled the course for more months. Apart from that our teacher gave us lots of homework. On Wednesday things have changed. a new teacher started teaching us and not only his methods but also his way of teaching made our days happy. Time was flying and learning became fun 🙂 Patrícia Lilla Kovács

During this short week I can work on improving my German language knowledge. My host family is really nice. They are really helpful. Our teachers at school are well-qualified and kind hearted. I am pleased to be here. The programmes are excellent. Patrik Gálosi

We are taking up an intensive German language course at ADK Augsburg. On Monday we wrote our placement tests, following that we started learning in groups. Unfortunately we were in groups full with grow ups – it was not easy at the beginning but we got used to it. Today things have changed; we are in a new group with a very young teacher. It is more suitable for us because between the teacher and us there isn’t as big age-gap as it was with our previous teacher. They both understand us well and this way learning is FUN! Péter Kovács

One of the highlights among the programmes here in Augsburg was the open air theatre performance on Thursday night. We were full of worries, because on Monday and on Tuesday it was pouring. What is going to be on Thursday – we were asking each other – it cannot be that we miss this fantastic musical?! On Wednesday we were full of hope because behind the rain clouds the sun started shining. The musical at 20.30 was awesome; not only the scenery, the music, the whole atmosphere but one more thing made us to be proud namely on the stage among the actors we could see Hungarians as well! My fair lady, how happy we are to be able to enjoy the performance!

Friday – our last school day welcomed us with a splendid weather. Gerlad, our teacher, prepared us interesting tasks and topics, so practising the German language was joyful. However we could hardly wait for Ms. Judit and Edina to arrive. At 12.45 am we could unwrap our masterpieces, the mugs made on Tuesday were fantastic! In the afternoon we went to the factory nearby where we experienced how in the 17th century „textile” was made. We were guided by a very clever man who explained us everything about „sawing”. After saying good-bye to him a lady led us into a room, where we could see how fashion has changed as time was passing by. This exhibition gave us just the right input to print our T-shirts and bags. In Augsburg there was a Festival called „La strada” on the main square. Therefore after having dinner, we returned to the city centre, where we could see artists from Italy, Belgium, France, Brazil, UK and from Hungry too.

Saturday
– we were more than upset, because early in the morning when we were heading to Ulm it started train. How on earth are we going to explore that lovely town in such weather – we kept asking. As it was nearly 12.00 a.m. and we all seemed to be really hungry, we sat in a cosy Italian restaurante. At 12.30 a.m. our guid was waiting for us and she invited us to a sight seeing tour. The down town was more than charming. We stopped at nearly every corner and listened to fasciniered stories about people of the Middle Ages;about their life style, customes, religion and everydays. We loved every moment of our visit because we had such a lovely guid. Before leaving Ulm we had nearly two hours to go for a wlak in this beautiful town. We truly hope to come back here one day.
