National Vocational Study Competition for Forestry Technicians

Sopron and the Roth Gyula Forestry Technician School hosted the finals of the National Vocational Study Competition (OSZTV) for the Forestry Technician/Forest Management specialization between April 14-16, 2026. Back on January 29, students in these sectors wrote the first round of the OSZTV at the MATE IT Center in Gödöllő, where Ármin Kuckó, a graduating student of the KSZC Dráva Völgye Technician School and Gymnasium and a beneficiary of the Nagybajom Community House Group 2, advanced to the next stage. Nearly 60 students participated in the written round, from which the top 15 competitors reached the finals.

“I advanced from Gödöllő to the practical finals of the OSZTV, which was held in Göbös-major. We had to demonstrate our knowledge in several competitive events, such as complex recognition, boundary identification, thinning marking, standing stock determination with a simple basal area gauge, chainsaw cutting and assembly, grading and inventory, small-bore rifle shooting, trophy scoring, distance estimation, and professional problem-solving. We also had to defend our prepared portfolios. In the end, I finished 13th in the National Finals; however, I gained a great deal of knowledge and experience during both the preparation and the competition, so I am confident that I can complete my professional exam in May with a ‘distinction’ grade.” – Ármin Kuckó, Nagybajom Group 2
