Young people in Europe – opportunities and challenges

Young people in Europe – opportunities and challenges

On 23 November, Barbara Kerner, head of the Europe Direct Baranya Information Centre, gave a presentation for university students studying in Pécs at the Csányi Foundation’s Pécs Community House.

The interactive presentation covered the following topics: proactive preparation for the world of work, the challenges young people face. They talked about their plans, their ideas about their future jobs, their professions and their expectations.

Learning and careers in Europe covered the recognition of scholarships, qualifications, the importance of language skills and traineeships. They discussed the European Solidarity Corps (volunteering), digital and global competences, personal branding. There was a strong focus on skills, abilities and competences that are adapted to the needs of the labour market and that enable students to successfully navigate the changing labour market and play an active role in society and democracy.

We spent a rich and useful two hours together in the Pécs Community House. Thank you to the Csányi Foundation for organising the event and to the Europe Direct Information Centre and its manager Barbara Kerner for helping to broaden our horizons. With thanks from the students of the Foundation studying in Pécs
