WONDERFUL GREECE

WONDERFUL GREECE

On Saturday, on the 7th of October, everyone arrived at the community house happy and curious. The team got back together very quickly and then the session could start. The warm-up item was a round of questions to find out how everyone is feeling in their new school, what good things have happened and what challenges the new situation brings. After everyone had answered, our mentor gave us a detailed overview of what the plans are for the year. This year’s project is called “What did the Greeks give us?” and we will be looking into this in depth in the fields of arts, physics, mathematics, philosophy, medicine, cartography, astronomy, gastronomy, law and mythology. Afterwards, of course, we were able to brainstorm a bit, get into groups and create mind maps from the topics already written down, and add our own ideas on how to implement the project. We chose a Greek themed lunch and celebrated the start of the project year with gyros. After lunch we completed the level test that will be used in our English lessons. To end the day, we visited the exhibition “Seven Sevens of HungarIkon” in the Black House, where we could see relics of iconic Hungarian celebrities. We found Krisztina Egerszegi’s swimsuit, Ferenc Puskás’s shoes, László Cseh’s swimming glasses, Ernő Rubik’s cube, Judit Polgár’s famous step model, Tamás Cseh’s tape recorder and Péter Esterházy’s glasses. The Greek gods also had different abilities that made them stand out from the rest, so we thought we’d take a look at some of the outstanding achievements of the Hungarian people. Before the museum visit, we got a sheet with exercises to help us deepen our individual discovery of the exhibition area. As a final task, we were asked to choose an icon we liked and make a creative presentation about it.  Overall, we had a very good day, where we gained a lot of new experiences and knowledge about both the Greeks and the famous Hungarians.
