Getting into The Easter Spirit in Nagybajom
On the first day of the spring break, we all gathered at the Community House.
We are preparing for Easter, so we thought we would dedicate the time before the holiday to getting into the spirit. Laura Sándor started the day with a presentation that contained a lot of information about the holiday. Following this, everyone went “their own way.” The youngest ones started the day with a creative workshop with the help of Aunt Tündi. The younger part of the high schoolers spent their time decorating traditional colored eggs written with a “gica” (wax-writing tool). Before the decorating, however, we talked about the origin of egg decoration, its symbolism, and Christianity. We then cleaned the eggs, drew on them with homemade gicas dipped in beeswax, and then immersed them in the lightest color. Following this, we drew new shapes and dipped them in dye again. Finally, we drew further shapes and then dipped the egg into 20% vinegar, which etched the shell back to snow-white. Later, we melted off the wax and then polished the motifs with bacon rind. For the remainder of the day, our older high schoolers organized a Kahoot and a skill-based sports competition for the younger ones. During the day, there was also an opportunity to see and pet real domestic rabbits thanks to Zsófi Horváth. There was no shortage of laughter, fun, and conversation. Our project related to the Festive Cycles always provides an opportunity for every member of the House to become one community. – Nagybajom Group 3

We wish everyone a Happy Easter on behalf of the members of the Nagybajom Community House!
