Language Development Weekend in Pécs

Language Development Weekend in Pécs

During the April language development weekend, students from the Pécs 3 and Pécs 1 groups worked in groups corresponding to their language levels in a complex manner, using English and German through tasks related to various themes and skills. The project’s goal remained the strengthening of communicative language use, as well as exploring topics related to daily life and current global and environmental issues.

“This time, the German language sessions focused on the topic of city gardens and urban gardening, which fits seamlessly into the year-long theme built around environmental protection and climate change. The student processed the material through translation, reading comprehension, and opinion-sharing tasks. Their motivation is noteworthy, as it maintained active work throughout. Remarkable progress can be observed in both reading comprehension and translation, especially regarding highlighting essential information and more precise linguistic formulation.” – Csilla Czimondor, German language tutor

“In today’s English language development classes, we worked with truly diverse and interesting tasks that helped improve vocabulary and communication skills. It was particularly enjoyable to deal in more detail with Earth Day, its significance, and what we can do in our daily lives to protect our environment. We talked about sustainability, an environmentally conscious lifestyle, and learned many useful new expressions related to this. During the lesson, the children were motivated, as we have been analyzing this topic since the beginning of the year, so they participated actively in the discussions with the appropriate background knowledge.” – Veronika Miklya, English language tutor

“Work continued in a differentiated manner this weekend as well. Two individuals worked on A2+ level worksheets processing topics of daily life through skill-development tasks. The students who already possess a language certificate solved exam tasks belonging to the next level within the framework of alternating quiet and loud activities, with 3-3 students at B2 and C1 levels. The topic processed for the oral part was social structure and the assertion of interests, in connection with which we solved debate tasks.” – Gabriella Andókné Pörnecz, English language tutor

“Today, the children participated in a foreign language project day, where we assisted in the smooth implementation of the program and the lessons. Following the foreign language classes, the children played skill-development games together with us junior mentors, the main goal of which was community building. The programs took place in a very good atmosphere; the children participated actively in everything, and everyone enjoyed the time spent together. It was good to see the children being carefree and happy here at the community house. Everyone is already looking forward to next week’s Guidance Festival.” – Ivett Majoros, Dzsenifer Csernyánszky (Pécs 3 group), Zsanett Henézy, Tibor Kovács (Pécs 1 group)
