Football in a different way

Football in a different way

At the weekend (on June 8-9th), I participated in Hungarian Sectorball Association’s 12-touch competition.

This sport is the table version of football. There are two types of it that is noteworthy. The first one is sectorball which is a Hungarian originated sport, the second is the Brazilian 12 touches table soccer which I participated in. the aim of the game is the same as football to score more goals than the opponent. The game is played on a 120×180 cm pitch. The players are made from plastic and we move them with sticks. We can touch the sphere shaped ball 12 times but this can fail if the ball is not guided by the rules. As I am a beginner I miss my chance many times to reach the opponent’s goal. My stepfather introduced the sport to me and I like it since then. After a few hours of practicing he thought I am good enough and took me to my first competition in April. To be honest, I was not lucky at all but I could get a touch of feeling about the excitement of the sport. This weekend was a bit different. I knew what to expect and I also knew that I have a fat chance in adult field against European and world champions. I think if I set a target for myself and I can fulfil it then I can be proud of myself.

On Saturday at the first competition I only wanted to score two goals. During the first match I could score a goal against the future winner. It was followed by a long goalless period. Around the end of the competition I was competing with my stepfather and I could score two goals.  The last match had high stakes. The two tail-enders competed with each other. I could put up with a draw but my opponent needed to win in order to get better position. In the second half of the match I got a goal. I was really scared to be the last one so I raked up my courage and I equalized which means I become the last but one.

Next day came with another competition. My target was to be the first one. I could do it in the fourth round and since then I was playing freely. Actually, I finished last but one again but it did not upset me because I felt I was getting better and better. With a lot of practice, I can become an excellent player too.
