Fishing In Szeged

Fishing In Szeged

In the community house of Szeged, it almost counts as a tradition that before the cold winters come in we take the fishes of our little pond in the garden to their aquarium, in order for them to survive the winter.

At this time of the year the annual observation of them. This time Leonardo, our volunteer from Costa Rica, was also with us. Since weeks there was great movement in that little pond of ours, the fishes have been constantly digging the mud and looking for some food, so that they can prepare for the winter with some access nutrition. That’s the exact time when we interfere.

Before the cold arrives we always harvest. But this year wasn’t just about the fishes but also their nutrition, worms. Those small creatures need some care as well, as their farm can’t give a safe location for the bigger ones.

With the help of the members of the Nature Lovers Club we’ve sorted them according to size and the more developed ones have been put in the cellar of the Community House. When a few of the hardworking Nature Lovers were sorting the worms, the others were sieving the little pond looking for more fishes. This year’s especially nutritious water has been used to water our flower garden. This way there was no need to use artificial fertilizer in Spring for the planting.

It was as surprise for us that this year many crucians have been born and due to the superb nutrition we could catch fat fishes. Unfortunately, only one of the three Kois have been found, the yellow one. It’s likely that this one is more resistant to the extensive parenting than his dotted mates. he has been put next to one of its own kind, which is also yellow, for the next few months, where he will only get living food. If we’re correct, we might be able to fish the descendants of him in a few years’ time. The stronger crucians( 29) have been put back into the pond and the smaller ones (13) were put in the aquarium inside the Community House.

The zenith of the day was when we found the bullfrog which was there since the beginning and became humongous. He became immediately the friend of Leo and the Fishers’. Our hardworking amphibian has been living on the grounds’ since four years and eating flies and mosquitos, by that, reducing these in the Community House.
