The necessity of language learning

The necessity of language learning

All the students performed according to their expected knowledge.

In the life of the Community House of Szeged an ‘in-house language examination’ was organised for the first time in order to check the students’ language knowledge. It meant a lot of excitement and work for everyone. Based on the topics of previous projects and with the guidance of the language teachers the students could revise and learn the topics thoroughly. This led us to a successful examination, which might have been the first real one in the lives of the students.

The atmosphere was relaxed despite the thrill among the students. It did not mean any difficulties for anyone to prove their oral skills in front of other teachers who also helped the positive outcome of the event.

All the students performed according to their expected knowledge, although there were some outstanding and some reserved examinees. According to the students this exam was a challenge not a rigid process of demonstrating skills in an environment where mother tongue was not allowed to use. In my opinion, this exam drew the students’ attention to the necessity of language learning and to a good command of English which seems to be essential in our present day world.
