Swimming Camp in Szeged

Swimming Camp in Szeged

We are now in the water

On 21st July, group 3 of Szeged started their swimming camp in Szeged. Monday morning the children gathered at the entrance of the swimming pool where the two swimming instructors Mr Gábor and Mr Dávid waited us. After laying down the rules the children’s swimming abilities were tested and two groups were formed. Those who can swim safely could go straight into the deep water where they performed their tasks perfectly well with the help of swimming boards under Mr Gábor’s supervision. The other group started with the basics in the shallow water with the help of Mr Dávid. The extreme heat of the day urged the children to play and have fun in the pools after the lesson. When everyone was tired enough, we walked to the nearby restaurant to eat our delicious lunch.

On Tuesday the weather was not favourable but the drizzling rain didn’t stop anyone to jump into the water. With the guidance of the instructors the children practiced the different strokes both in the deep and shallow water. At the end of the lesson the instructors praised the children’s stamina and good manners during the lesson.

On Wednesday our mood was brilliant unlike the weather. We hardly could wait to jump into the pool. Following the warm-up exercises the advanced swimmers practised breast and freestyle swimming in the deep water and after the practice rounds we started learning back strokes was on the agenda. In the shallow water everyone was practicing gliding across the pool and the proper breathing. Today we used swimming boards to practice leg strokes. Slowly but steadily we learn all the movements for the different swimming styles. After the lesson we still had energy to play water polo just like the Australian team in the neighbouring swimming pool.

On Thursday another we had another fine day in the swimming camp. The whole group met at 10 o’clock in front of the Sportuszoda. Our teachers Mr Gábor and Mr Dávid are really nice so learning swimming with them is really easy and enjoyable. After swimming we went together to the Kertvárosi restaurant where they waited us with delicious lunch. The whole group enjoys the swimming camp.

Friday was a really interesting day for us. We got prepared for the usual swimming day and we didn’t know that another programme was waiting for us. We watched a match, water polo match. This day  will be memorable for me because the Hungarian team won the match. Swimming was also very good because we started learning the basics of butterfly swimming, which is very difficult but we enjoyed it. Of course, there was time for games, too. Dinner was really delicious, pasta with cheese and cream. I liked this day very much and I am sure my fellow Csányi students also liked it as much as I did. I hardly can wait for Monday to go swimming again.

Monday morning was a bit gloomy and rainy. But by 8 o’clock the sky cleared up and we could go to the swimming pool. After we picked up everybody and met the others in front of the swimming pool we started another exciting day. All of us entered into the deep water and we practiced swimming there. We practiced breast strokes, free style and started learning back strokes, especially those who were in the shallow water last week. We are really proud of ourselves because we could get into the deep water just after a week and we felt safe there. If the weather is with us, by the end of the week we will be safe and confident swimmers even in the deep water. But this week is not just about swimming. We are going to practice our play for the Walk of Life Day and for the group singing with Ms Anikó and with our volunteer Ms Erika.

The seventh day was another big day for us! Today everyone started the swimming in the deep water to learn more about swimming there. We practiced breast stroke, back stroke and free style and at the end of the lessons as a reward we could jump a lot into the pool. After the lesson we went to have lunch to the nearby restaurant. The menu was green pea sauce with roasted sausages. After lunch, the group was split in two smaller groups. One was taken home by car by Mr Zoli and the others were taken to the bus stop under the supervision of Ms Piroska, mother of Berta Gábor. We really enjoyed this day, too and we are proud of ourselves to be able to swim confidentially in the deep water.

This the swimming camp is going to have an end. We waited excitedly to begin and now we are sad to finish it on Friday. Mr Dávid, Mr Gábor and Ms Judit taught us all the movements so those who couldn’t swim well so far are brave and safe swimmers in the deep water. After the lesson we could jump into the big pool and everyone enjoyed it. The one hour swimming passed very quickly but it is really relaxing to have lunch together after the hard work.

Today was the 8th day of the swimming camp. It was a very nice day because this is the third day that everyone can swim in the deep water. After the swimming lesson we went to the Community House and rehearsed our play for the Walk of Life Day. We spent the afternoon cheerfully thanks to Mr Játszint and Mr László and to Ms Anikó and Ms Erika! We practiced both plays and tomorrow we will repeat this afternoon again. Tomorrow Mr Zoli will be our help during the rehearsal.

The last but one day was great as the other days. In the morning the weather wanted to scare us but it was useless. The lesson started with the usual practice rounds; breast strokes, free style and back strokes and all of us swam in the deep water.at the end of the lesson everyone took the time for some jumps from the start stone. Despite the cool weather we stayed a bit longer to enjoy the big jumps. We got tired but we had to save some energy after lunch, because we went to the Community House to practice our play for the Walk of Life Day and for the song contest.

This day was great but unfortunately it was the last one. Everyone had a great time today because we could play and have fun in the water and our mentor, Mr Zoli, also joined us in the pool. Lunch was very delicious, plum dumplings. After lunch we said good-bye to each other and Mr Zoli took us. This day was really good, it is a pity this camp is over.
