Theatre at the end of autumn break

“The young people of the Nagybajom 2 group went together to see the Hungarian Heroes – Liberation Theatre on Sunday afternoon in the Szivárvány Palace of Culture in Kaposvár. Even the title of the play has something special, something exciting. Five high school students and their teacher find themselves in a special space, an escape room. In this “unconventional” history lesson, the play takes them back to the dark ages of 20th century Hungarian history. By “stepping into” the characters of six everyday heroes and telling their stories, the game helps students to appreciate history and their own situation. In this way, they experience and understand the tragedies and personal pasts of their parents, grandparents and their time. As a theatre lover, I watched the dramaturgical play, the strong monologues and scenes. Not only for the secondary school students in the escape room, but also for us, the play provided something to say and enriched our knowledge of 20th century Hungarian history. As part of the Education project, in Hungarian Literature class we have been working on the theme “Heroes in Literature”, and the theatre performance we saw was a good starting point for this. Thank you for the experience!” – Milán Vajda, Nagybajom Group 2
