Field trip in Bóly and Bár

The eighteen students participating successfully on Csányi Foundation and Bonafarm Group’s tender, named ‘Cockle leaf clean wheat’ could travel to Bóly and Bár on a field trip on 5th October.

Sunny, beautiful autumn morning welcomed us this morning for the happiness of all of us. The bus with the children from Nagybajom left to Pécs at 6:30 in the morning where the other field trip travellers joined the group. Our fellow Csányi students from Szeged spent the night in Hunter Hotel, Bóly-Békáspuszta where they had arrived on Friday evening. The groups met in Bóly in front of the headquarters office of Bóly Zrt.

Freshly baked scones waited us in the conference room where Macháty Béla deputy CEO of Bóly Zrt. and Vadász Attila Sector Manager for Horticulture introduced the work and activities of Bóly Zrt. Now we know what happens on the way between wheat seed and bread.
On the farmlands near Kislippó we saw soil work before planting and we got first hand experience what it feels like sitting and driving agricultural machineries.

Around Bóly watching soy harvesting was the programme; we heard about the process of harvesting and thanks to the organisers we could sit on and go for a ride in the huge John Deere combine harvesters.

Delicious lunch was served in Hunter Hotel in Bóly-Békáspuszta.
The next station of the field trip was the conference room of the poultry farm in Bár. Baby chicken stroking was the peak of the day. Dr Mékán Lajos veterinary had an interesting and child centred lecture and video show on the phases of hatching. The lecture was followed by a quiz and good answers were awarded with valuable and useful prizes by Boda Gabriella, leader of Bár poultry farm. Our field trip ended here and we travelled home to the community houses.

We would like to express our thanks to Bonafarm Group, Csányi Foundation and the colleagues of Bóly Zrt. for this event- and colourful day. We could be part of poultry breeding and horticulture for a day through this special programme. Thank you very much.
