Talent Day in Pécs
On Tuesday afternoon, April 21, the Pécs Community House hosted a special event: the Pécs 1 and Pécs 3 groups presented the knowledge they acquired in the field of digital culture to interested parents as part of a Talent Day.
In the P1 group’s program, robotics took center stage. The operation of the robots is supported by three different sensors—distance, pressure, and color sensors—through the combined use of which the structures are able to perceive their environment and even move autonomously. During the session, students also mastered the programming basics required to operate a lifting arm, so their robots are now not only able to travel but have also become capable of lifting and moving objects.
Meanwhile, the P3 group reached the closing phase of an exciting, forward-looking project: they finished designing the new units for the Camp Elysium Mars camp. The next step will be the realization of the buildings, for which they will use 3D printers found and repaired at the base. The students were not idle during the preparation for construction either: they became familiar with the structure and basic programming of robots, which will provide important assistance in completing the tasks.
The demonstrations were a great success: parents followed their children’s work and progress with pride and satisfaction. As the closing of the event, we also discussed the details of the upcoming Guidance Festival. -Andrea Bálint-Orsós, Luca Borsy, mentors.
