Almost proficient

I was very glad to have this opportunity, I mean this day spend on examining the students of our groups on 16th January.

I am learning teaching and my major is English, so taking part of the exams was very useful to me. The other good part was  that I was on the other side of the table. Everyone took the difficulties and I felt a little bit strange because I thought they were feeling quite shy. They couldn’t handle the situation that I was also there. I was with András Szabó and Alba, our volunteer in the same commission.  This day put quite a positive pressure on me and I really hope that I will also have another opportunity to take part at the commissions. I would like to say thank you to the Foundation. Kinga Király, Jász 1

“We were all excited at the whole day, because we knew that we are having a tremendous adventure in the afternoon. In the Community Centre we met the older ones and we ask questions about the exams because we were very exctied. As we entered the examining room, we all had a deep breath because the teachers were smiling at us and Miss Judit was also very kind, so we evaluated more easily.”
Bognár Bence, Kántor Tamás, Jász 1.

“I had another great pleasure with the help of the Csányi Foundation: the mentors invited me to be part of the exam commitee. As I was sitting in front of the students I was thinking about how easy is to sit at the other side of the table. The levels were quite high and  all the students evaluated very good. I didn’t waited students with these high levels. The teachers were all very kind to everybody.” Alba Valejo Picado, volunteer from Spain

PÉCS – Thursday

“The fourth place for the half term exams was Pécs. Everyone was waiting for this day very much. (15th January) The students were well preapared for the exam. Az examination had friendly athmosphere, we could cooperate perfectly and we could get experiences as well. We could hear outsanding performances and students could show us their own thoughts. The students could talk about their topics creatively. The argumentation part was well built-up, the arguments were linked with conjunctions. We were completely happy for taking part in this examination.” Bali Zsanett, Gál András teachers

NAGYBAJOM– Wednesday

“The Csányi Foundation provides great opportunities for young people. Today (14th January) we went to the Csányi Community House in Nagybajom to take part in oral exams. We helped the teachers to animate the discussions and then at the end we helped to decide the grades. This was probably the most difficult aspect for us as initially we were unfamiliar with the grading system. It was also quite strange to be judging people whose position we were in not long ago.The oral exams were in English and German. Overall we were impressed by the students’ abilities and we can really appreciate the great work being done by the foundation. The people here were very welcoming for us, and made sure that we were comfortable at all times. Both the teachers and the young people were very friendly and we even were invited for a dinner. To conclude, was a pleasure for us COMPASS volunteers to work in the Csányi Community House in Nagybajom and spend time with the students and the team that works here.” Felix Martin – Germany, James Ellwood – UK, Joshua Peters – Germany from COMPASS

KAPOSVÁR – Tuesday

The exams continued today (13th January) in Kaposvár, where the kids gave an account not only of their English but also of their German knowledge. The seven graders took part for the first time in such an exams so they were more than excited. The elder ones had more routin and they enjoyed showing, how well they use foreign languages.

“January 2015, English exam in the Csányi Foundation Kaposvár Community HouseThis was not my first time being an examiner at the Csányi Foundation English exam. It was nice to see the students of the Foundation again and to witness the improvement in their English. They were well-mannered, well-prepared for the exam and their communication skills were very good. Congratulations! It was also interesting to hear their views on the different topics. All in all I was glad to have the opportunity to help the valuable work of the Foundation.” William Hamlin

SZEGED – Monday

On the 12th of January the half term oral exams of the Csányi Foundation started with B1 and B2 levels in Szeged. The aim of the practice exam is to prepare the students for the real language exam. The children have the chance to practice the language, get feedback and evaluation of their half year progress. At the end of the school year the best performing students can participate in a one-week language course in England. The children were well-prepared, motivated and they were mature enough to know what they are working for.

As a volunteer

„The oral exams in Szeged proved to be successful and inciting. The pupils’ accomplishments were promising, most of them passed the exam without much difficulty. As for me, I very much appreciate the Foundation’s activities, which are aimed at the support of talented juveniles. It was good to see the progress of these young talents, and I hope they will continue to walk on that path.”  Szabolcs Vörös
