Eastbourne 2017

Eastbourne 2017

Day 1: (25 th June) Today, the long waited the time has come of the English language course. We all woke up early in the morning and with the other students form Jászberény, Kaposvár, Nagybajom, Pécs and Szeged we met at the Budapest Airport. After the 2 hour long flight we left to Eastbourne. In the car park the host families waited us and we were very happy to be at home and not on moving vehicle. We also were happy to get hot meal at the end of the day. We tried to communicate with the family members and get used to the new environment. Czulák Linda P3, Csontos Mihály Nb3, Kormos Dénes Sz3

Day 2: (26 th June) Today was the first day at school. After the delicious breakfast we walked to the nearest bus stops where the school’s bus picked us up and took directly to the school. First, we were distributed into three different groups and we were taken to the classrooms. We had to introduce ourselves then we were taken around in the school. The lunch came very quickly, which was really nice, totally different what we have in Hungary. Right after lunch we took a “short” excursion to the nearby Beach Head. It was more tiring than we expected but on the top we thought it was worth it. We walked back to the town centre to the railway station where the bus waited us to take back home. At home nice lunch waited us. It was a nice but tiring day. Pápai Panna Sz3, Bertalan Zsolt Nb3, Csernyánszky Dzsenifer P3

Day 3 (27 June) Today everything happened backwards. After breakfast, the bus took us into the town centre and we started the day with sightseeing in Eastbourne. The first stop was the Pier, where we walked along, bought souvenirs and took hundreds of photos. Then, we walked down to the beach and we could collect shells, snail houses and pebbles or could try the temperature of the water or check how salty it is. Later we walked up to the Band Stand and the Wish Tower. From here we walked back to the town centre where we could look around as well. After the sightseeing morning, it was good to sit down in the school, of course, after the typical British lunch. The lessons lasted until 5 o’clock and we learned about the sights of London. We enjoyed our time very much. Communication is easier day by day art school or with the host families. Unfortunately, the weather turned bad in the afternoon but we could relax after the long day. Fábián Berta Sz3, Horváth Anna P3, Pálfi Gábor Nb3

Day 4 (28 June) We are in the middle of the week and now we are learning and reading more difficult materials. Today, we had to search for words and phrases in the text, which describe our future and we had to present them to the others using these phrases. The text was tricky, because everyone could find what they wanted. After lunch we walked down to the railway station and took a train to Brighton where we headed down to the Pier. Here, we could buy souvenirs, play games and took as many photos as we wished. After this we went to the Royal Pavilion, which was good to escape from the rain, but of course, it was very beautiful. We closed the day with train travelling and then bus travelling back home where nice dinner waited us. Pap Virág Nb3, Jakab Kata P3, Borsos József Sz3

Day 5 (29 June) After the nice breakfast together with the families we started our day as usual. At the language lessons in groups we had to work on different projects. After lunch, we walked to the town centre and we were split in two groups. One group stayed in the town and did a little shopping, while the other group went down to the beach and did kayaking. It was awesome. Early afternoon the buses took us home and we spent the rest of the day with the families. We had meaningful and nice day today. Schneider Krisztián P3, Rully Vanda SZ3, Gál Dorina NB3

Day 6: (30 June): This day was the last one at school. During the first lesson we worked in groups than during the last two, we  showed each other and to our teachers our project works. We had fun and we did not even realise that we were talking in English. Patrick, one of our teachers grabbed his accordion and as a farewell he taught us a song. At the end of the course, everyone got their certificate about the completion of the course. These few days passed very quickly and as frightened we were at the beginning it was as difficult to say good-bye to the school. In the afternoon we had programmes again. We went on a sightseeing tour by bus in Eastbourne and the nearby area. The best part of it was when it started to rain during the open top double decker bus trip. The Beachy Head, the Seven Sisters and the light tower were still amazing. Then we went back to town and two groups were formed. One went into the centre and the other group went down to the beach to wash feet on more time in the see. Tokaji Lili Sz3, Balogh Szintia P3, Gelencsér Márton NB3

Day 7: (7 July) And finally, the last day has arrived in Eastbourne. In fact, it wasn’t in Eastbourne but in Portsmouth. We started the day very early at the railway station where we met the elder Csányi students and together we went to Brighton and then to Portsmouth by train. The first stop was the National Historic Dockyard and its ships, museums and the boat trip around the harbour and quay. Later we went up the Spinnaker tower where we had amazing view over Portsmouth, the harbour and the whole quay. We can have that view like that in Szeged, Nagybajom or Pécs. After lunch we headed back to the railway station because we have to pack our suitcase for tomorrow. Orsós Dániel P3, Pap Virág Nb3, Kiri Gabriella Sz3

18 +: I have arrived to my host family on Sunday evening. They waited for me with more than a welcome. I have learnt the most important issue in English, how to speak fluently. I could learn it from a native speaker which is the best way to learn. During the entire week we could participate in colourful and enjoyable programmes. In conclusion, it was a pleasure to come Eastbourne for a week. Ádám Szappanos JB
