We were in Eger

We were in Eger

„At the weekend I went to Eger with my groupmates and our mentor. Everyone was looking forward to it because we could discover a new city. I got the task to plan this trip’s programs. My friend Gréti who goes to school in Eger helped a lot in this and I’m really grateful for that. Together we talked about what places should we visit in the city, when we were done I shared our idea with my mentor. When we arrived we went to the train station because we met our American teacher (Amber Woolam) here. Everyone was happy to see her. Next we went to our first stop, the castle of Eger. We already prepared about the landmarks of Eger so we could tell some things about them to Amber. At the end we saw an interesting show about how people used their weapon, the arquebus during the time of the border castles. The next place we went to was the Eger Eye, the whole group enjoyed it and the view was so amazing we didn’t even know where to look. Then we walked to the 40 meters high Minaret, only the brave ones went to the top. After lunch we went to a part of the unique cellar system of Eger where we saw exhibitions. In the Time tunnel we flew back in the past with the help of a time machine. Then travelling between different ages we witnessed Eger’s astonishing historical events and secrets that not all local people heard about. After the funny show that was full of jokes we enjoyed the trip more. Next we finished we viewed the Lyceum and the Basilica but unfortunately it was under construction. At the end we walked to the Archbishop’s garden and we admired the amazing view that the autumn trees offered. After this we unfortunately had to say goodbye to Amber. After she left with the train we left too. On our way home we talked about everyone’s favourite that we visited. I had a really good time and I’m happy I got the task to plan this trip.” Tilda Tamasi Jászság 3. group

„On Saturday with a part of our group and Amber we spent a day in Eger. I was looking forward to it because I’ve never been to Eger before. When we arrived we participated in better and better programs but my favourite was the Ferris wheel. From the top a beautiful view opened on the city just like from the Minaret. It was a pleasure to go up to the top. We went to historical places like the castle of Eger, I especially liked because of it’s past. It was incredible to think about how many people tried to defend this place in 1552 during the Ottoman attacks. Besides these we’ve been in the Time tunnel where we got some information about the city’s past. As a whole we went to a lot of nice and interesting place and the fact that Amber could come with us made everything better. At the end of the day everyone spoke English and we went home a little bit tired but full of experiences”. Gyula Pege Jászság 3. group

“I had a really great time visiting Eger with the group. It was a lot fun to learn about the city’s castle and underground tunnels. I was really impressed by the group’s vocabulary as they translated everything we heard today. As always, I loved talking to everyone as we walked through the city.” Amber Woolam
