JFCS’s birthday

JFCS’s birthday

The members of the Jászság Youth Volunteer Team have been volunteering in Jászság since 2008. Currently, the number of active members is still around 30, but there are also about 15 more occasional, external helpers – including some members of the Jászság 4 group. September always starts with a celebration for the association, as it was founded 14 years ago this month. Every year they celebrate this date with a birthday party, to which we were invited this year in Jászapáti. We were soon to accept the invitation and joined the evening’s event, where we also helped to make lecsó, and brought cakes. My group’s relationship with the association is getting closer and closer, as we used to just collect the caps, but for two years now we have been helping with the bagging at the Jászapáti site. The association’s leader Tóth D. Csaba has been collecting donations and members since the beginning. His great sense of humor, endless patience and kind personality are very much loved by the children of Csányi. So, when we are called to help, the children immediately volunteer to help. Csaba told us about their everyday life: “Our main activity is material fundraising, which means that we do not accept donations of money, only toys, durable food, cleaning kits, and learning equipment for kindergartens and schools. The scope of donations: seriously ill, disabled children, families in difficult circumstances. We have been supporting the Szent István Körút Institute for Special Education in Jászberény for six years. The institutions supported from the proceeds of the cap collection are changed every year. We are able to collect 5-6 tons of caps per year, which are collected at the Rego-Plast Ltd. site. Many restaurants, schools, kindergartens, beaches and public institutions in and outside the region help us by providing collection points for the caps. We receive municipal subsidies for operating costs, and members also contribute to the work at their own expense. We are also able to employ students, with the mandatory 50 hours of community work signed off. Thank you so much for letting us be part of your fun birthday celebration!
