Academy of Parents – Our news

Bringing up teenagers, we all know that finding the similar language is not an easy thing or looking the world from their point of view and make adults understand them.

Starting from this daily experience we went with big interest to the Academy of Parents on the last Saturday in November to the Community House of Kaposvar. “I was glad because two of the lectures were two developer who I heard all about them (only good things)” – a parent words. Maria Tolnai told us about self-communication and we could try how effective communication can be in the so called self-communication. It is important that there should be no qualification in the talking with our talking partner and we should set up balance between our emotions and interests. As a parent it was good to exchange experience about how we can or cannot talk to our teenager children. We introduce a bit of psychology which in certain situations is absolutely natural because analyzing the particular situation we also examined the spiritual approach of behavior. While talking to Dr. Peter Gombos we could get acquainted our children’s relationship with reading. We changed experience about the boys’ and girls’ interests and we discussed the advantages and disadvantages of compulsory reading. We gathered the thing that influence children’s reading habits and how we can help them the start liking and reading books. In this case it is not the children who grow up among poor financial condition that are disadvantaged but those who are not told stories, who are not talked to and this way their imagination will not develop they will not find any of the books interesting because they cannot imagine them. Finally we promised a list that could help us chose the perfect book for our children. On our way home we tried to use self-communication in our conversation with our children. On behalf of my parent fellows I would like to thank Dr. Gombos for this great afternoon.
