Health Camp in Nagybajom

Health Camp in Nagybajom

Between 20 and 24 of July, members of group 3 of Nagybajom take part in their health camp.

Day 1 – On the opening day of the camp, we talked a lot about our previous camp in Tokaj and of course, we discussed the present camp of which the main theme is health. After the talk, the group was divided into three smaller groups. Each group had to answer questions and for finding the answers they were allowed to use books, PC and smart phones as well. As everyone got ready we talked about health and about its meaning form the children’s point of view, which included balanced diet, the importance of physical activities, addiction and, of course, we watched videos about health. After lunch, time came for free afternoon activities just like table tennis, football, computer games or chatting. The kick off of the camp was very good, everyone enjoyed themselves.

Day 2 – On the second day, after the usual morning chat a P.E. teacher was our guest. Mr András told us a lot about the beneficial sides of sports and moving. We also got many interesting exercises connected to sports, which the groups tried to do to their best knowledge. There was crossword puzzle, picture matching with many different sports and we made posters as well. Unfortunately, the handball match planned for today was cancelled due to the business of the sports centre but we had a very nice day nonetheless as we could play in the yard of the community house. At the end of the day we went to eat ice-cream and everybody could have as many as well they performed in the knowledge competition. We are really looking forward to tomorrow’s swimming and horseback riding.

Day 3 – This day was devoted to horseback riding and swimming. As we have learned it yesterday we warmed up before taking any sport. Both riding and swimming is a good free-time activity thus the day flew very quickly. We enjoyed swimming and jumping into the pool. After lunch Dorina taught us a quick dance to which most of the group members joined happily. After all these we still had energy to play games. We closed another eventful and memorable day.

Day 4 – On the fourth day everyone arrived to the community house excitedly, when Bence arrived too we all went to look for English plantain because we worked with these plants later on. When we collected the necessary amount we headed back to the house to prepare them. One half of the group made posters about the found herbs like cleavers, yarrow and common mallow. The other half of the group selected the plantains. After this we made syrup from the plantains, which will be good when we will have cold or sore throat. At the end of the day we talked a bit more with Bence about health and what a fitoterapist does. Tomorrow we go hiking in the woods. We are really looking forward to it.

Day 5 – On the last day of our health camp, we took a trip to the nearby forest because we learned that recreation and relaxation is very important in people’s lives. In the morning, we targeted Háromháza where we got with the help of Mr Attila. When we arrived, we headed into the woods after a short brainstorming. In the woods, we saw many animal paths, we saw their feeding place and all in all, we learned many things about wild animals and their lives. After the long trip, we went back to the hunter house where our lunch was being prepared. After a quick game, everyone was happy to have lunch and the refreshing cold melon as dessert. This day was also very good. We are happy to have such a colourful and eventful programme during our health camp.
